Macarena is a very cheerful and affectionate girl. She loves music, and wherever it is playing, she starts dancing.
How did we feel when we found out our child has SLC6A1?
When we were given the diagnosis, our world fell apart, and we spent quite a long time in a very bad way psychologically.
How did you know something was wrong?
At 6 months we began to think Macarena was deaf, and we put ourselves in the hands of professionals.
The hardest part of being an SLC6A1 family?
The hardest part is emotional, because this disease creates a lot of uncertainty about what our daughter’s life will be like in the future.
What are your dreams for Macarena?
That Macarena becomes fully independent and can lead a normal life in the future.
Why are donations to SLC6A1 Spain needed?
Donations are very important because they help fund research into our children’s disease.
